Q: What is CrossWind like?

A: CrossWind is a growing congregation that exists to reach and develop people for God’s Kingdom. The goal is to fulfill Christ’s call to go and make disciples. This church will be ever changing to connect with modern people. Change will be a constant because effectiveness is not negotiable. The good news of salvation in Christ alone will be the one constant.

Q: When was CrossWind started?
A: Crosswind officially launched our first public worship service on December 5th, 2004. We had 260 people with us that Sunday.

Q: Where are new churches planted?
A: New churches are planted in quickly growing areas to reach this new population. The congregation will be located in a temporary facility until such time as the new body of believers is able to purchase land and build for themselves a new church home.

Q: Who plants new churches?
A: The United Methodist Church in West Michigan starts one new church per year. Experienced pastors are trained to become congregational developers.

Q: Where are we located?
A :1683 142nd Ave

Here is a map of where we are located as well.

Q: What should I wear to a weekend service?

A: Clothes.

Q: Why Partnership?

A: So you’ve visited us a couple of times and like what you experience.  You’ve been through the web site and think that we are okay.  Why join CrossWind Church?  You can worship here; even take communion, without being a member.  You can participate in most of what goes on here without joining.  So why join?  Are there any perks?  A great parking place?  A seat of your own in the worship area?

The most important part of partnership has little to do with such “benefits.”  The most important part of partnership is the commitment you make to the people of CrossWind.  Partners make the commitment to be there for each other.  Partners make the commitment to help each other grow in love of God and love for God’s world.  Partners give of themselves for each other and for the wider work of the church in the world.

The difference between being an attender and partner is like being on a cruise.  If you’re an attender you’re just along for the ride.  If you’re a partner you’re actually a crew member on the cruise.

In our society we tend not to make commitments easily, but in the Christian faith we believe our spiritual lives mature as we make commitments.  That’s the most important reason for considering joining a church.

Q: What is expected of me as a Partner?

A: We only expect our members to do what the Bible expects every Christian to do.  You are ready for partnership when you have received Christ as your Lord and Savior and been baptized, and are in agreement with Crosswind’s statements, strategy, and structure.

If you choose to join CrossWind Church you are committing to uphold it by your prayers, your presence, your gifts, your service and your witness:

  • Partners protect the unity of the church by acting in love toward the other members, refusing to gossip, and by following the leaders.
  • Partners support the testimony of the church by attending faithfully, by living a godly life and by giving regularly.
  • Partners serve the ministry of the church by discovering their gifts and talents, by being equipped to serve and by developing a servant’s heart.

If you are interested in partnership we ask that you attend a new member class, and these classes are held throughout the year.  For more information you can contact the pastor, Scott Otis.  He would love to visit with you about church partnership.
